A time to honor and encourage community involvement is the hallmark of nearly every successful community. To that end, the Staples Motley Area Community Foundation (SMACF) yearly solicits your nominations for the following awards:
·           Citizen of the Year
·           Business or Organization of the Year
·           Youth of the Year

This year’s award recipients will be announced in May in the Staples World newspaper. Recipients will be recognized at SMACF events throughout the year. Nominations will be accepted through April 1st, 2022. Please see the nomination form for additional details and information on how to submit a nomination.

The inspiration for the SMACF community awards originated with the celebration held in 2004 to honor Dr. Duane R. Lund for his lifetime achievement of contributions to the area. During the planning for that event, the SMACF decided one of the best ways to honor Dr. Lund was to continue his mission of enabling the gifts of so many others to flourish and bloom in the community.

The Staples Motley Area Community Foundation is a component fund of the Initiative Foundation. Its mission is to develop and strengthen community resources, and to enhance the quality of life of individuals, families and organizations in and around the Staples community. Its focus is to strengthen youth and families, improve community appearance, and increase community involvement and a sense of belonging.
