The image below right is a rendering of what the area could look like when the Staples Motley Area Community Foundation completes its “Develop and Dive into Dower Lake: Donate for Restoration” project. The foundation plans to double the beach area and add landscaping, add shade structures and create ADA compliant connecting pathways.

The project has four components: • Double the swimming area and define it by adding a second dock; • Adding new sand for the beach and landscaping adjoining areas for grass; • Adding two or three shade structures; • Connecting the dock, pavillion, shade structures, restrooms and parking lot with ADA compliant walkways. The goal is to have everything completed by early spring 2019 for next summer’s use. The committee is still researching the specifics, but expects the project will cost about $40,000. A recognition program is being developed for all donations, but the committee is also seeking sponsors for specific items. For instance, a business, organization or individual could choose to totally fund one of the shade structures and have their name put on that structure, or the cost could be shared between two or more people or businesses. In kind donations will also be accepted.
